Container Terminals

Till the end of 2008, Taicang Port had 6 container berths with total length of 1,490 meters and design throughput capacity of 2.35 million TEUs, more than 310 sets of handling facilities including 16 container cranes and 47 gantry cranes, 1.25 million square meters of container yards, 75,000 square meters of bonded warehouses and 25,000 square meters of export goods warehouses under customs superintendence. The port is equipped with full and complete auxiliary facilities like harbor tugboats and anchorages.

Construction of four 50,000-tonnage container berths (water engineering structure capable of accommodating 100,000DWT vessel) was started in June 2008 with 1,309-meter shoreline and design capacity of 2 million TEUs. This project will be completed and put into operation by the end of 2009.
