Geographic Location and Navigation Conditions
Located at southern bund of Yangtze River estuary, Taicang Port lies 68 nautical miles from the pilotage anchorage at the estuary.
Taicang Port is in possession of 38.8 kilometers of Yangtze River waterfront line including 25.7 kilometers of excellent deep-draft waterfront line that accommodates over 10,000-tonnage berths. Thanks to the straight waterfront line, stable shore conditions and close deep-draft strandline, Taicang boasts all-round favorable conditions for construction of container hub port.
Taicang Port has the same traffic conditions as Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port District. Upon completion of the third-phase fairway harness project at the Yangtze River estuary, the navigable depth will reach 12.5 meters that is capable of accommodating 70,000DWT bulkers and the fourth-generation container ships. 200,000DWT bulk carriers and the fifth/sixth-generation container ships may enter and exit the port after partly unloaded or at tidal time.
